Course description

This module will be perfect for any organisation that is worried about staff absence or sickness levels. Delegates will learn how to complete effective Return to Work Interviews, how to ease employees back into the workplace following longer term absences and how to utilise Occupational Health provisions for advice. 

Delegates will gain a good understanding of the law surrounding disability discrimination and the duty to make reasonable adjustments, as well as practical ideas to support employees and improve their attendance levels.

        • Return-to-Work (RTW) Interviews
        • Supporting and managing long term sickness absence
        • The legal obligations and responsibilities regarding reasonable adjustments for disabilities

          Learner Objectives

          By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

          • Know the process and procedure to manage employee absence, both short and longer term  
          • Be confident in supporting an employee through their return to work and RTW interview
          • Know when and how to access medical and HR advice  
          • Recognise when an illness may be classed as a disability, and know when and how to implement reasonable adjustments 
          • Implement attendance management procedures using the Bradford Factor when required
