          5. Knowing when to escalate – what the formal options look like and when to use them

            Learner Objectives

            By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

            • Understand when conflict can arise, and the benefits of early resolution
            • Recognise the financial, reputational and other risks to the organisation if conflict and disagreement are allowed to continue or escalate
            • Understand how to recognise conflict, disagreements and tensions and approach with a mediation mindset
            • Confidently recognise and address conflict situations, working towards solutions that avoid the need for formal processes, such as grievances
            • Know the formal procedures that can be applied when informal solutions haven’t achieved a resolution
