Webinar – Conduct, Culture & People Risk in Construction

    Date: Wednesday 1st July

    Location: Online, Microsoft Teams

    Time: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

    Price: FREE

    1st July

Construction businesses face a distinct set of people challenges – dispersed teams, subcontractor complexity, high-pressure deadlines, and cultures that have historically let certain behaviours go unchecked. The employment law landscape is shifting, and the costs of getting it wrong are rising.

Heidi Wadsworth, Head of L&D at Reality HR and Alex Harper, Senior Employment Lawyer at Herrington Carmichael, have over 19 years of combined experience working in the Construction sector and in this joint webinar will come together to provide both a practical HR perspective and legal expertise. They will give you an honest, grounded look at employee relations in construction – what goes wrong, why it goes wrong, and what actually works.

    What we’ll cover:

    • The reality of site culture and why it matters legally:
What makes construction unique as a working environment, the conduct issues that arise most often, and why tribunals look at culture, not just policies
    • Hard conversations and handling conduct issues effectively:
When to intervene early, how to call out behaviour on site, managing those who’ve previously been left unchallenged, and the legal risks when these conversations are avoided
    • ER in construction and what typically goes wrong:
The most common mistakes, what good investigations look like across dispersed teams, and when dismissal is and isn’t justified
    • Building a better culture – moving from reactive to proactive:
What actually shifts culture in construction, training approaches that stick, and how to embed behavioural expectations so they hold up if you end up in a tribunal

Who Should Attend? Senior Managers, Directors and HR Professionals within the construction industry.

Employment Rights Act 2025: Your October 2026 update

    Date: Thursday 17th September

    Location: Online, Microsoft Teams

    Time: 10am – 11am

    Price: FREE

With the first wave of Employment Rights Act changes already in motion, the next phase is fast approaching. This September, we’re bringing you the essential update on what’s landing from October 2026 and into 2027, including what your business needs to do right now to stay ahead.

As implementation continues, the most impactful changes are still to come. From October 2026, a series of major reforms take effect, with further significant changes following in January 2027. The time to prepare is now and this webinar will guide you through where to start.

Join Heidi Wadsworth, Head of Learning Development at Reality HR and Alex Harper, Senior Employment Solicitor at Herrington Carmichael as they cover the most critical changes coming up and what you need to do to prepare for each one:

    • Sexual harassment duty: The bar rises to taking all reasonable steps to prevent harassment, not just reasonable steps. Documentation and training will be critical
    • Third-party harassment: Employers will become liable for harassment of their employees by customers, clients and suppliers. This will apply to all types of harassment, unless they have taken reasonable steps to prevent it happening
    • Extended tribunal time limits: Employees will have six months (up from three) to bring claims, increasing your risk exposure for historic issues
    • Trade Union changes:  There will be a new duty for employers to inform workers of their right to join a trade union, along with other changes to TU access and rights for representatives
    • Looking ahead to January 2027: We’ll also briefly touch on the major changes coming early next year – including unfair dismissal reforms, fire and rehire restrictions, and new rights for zero and low-hours workers
