Course description

Understand the legal basis for Equality and Diversity as well as the business benefits. This module will provide an overview of the main legislation and its practical implications, and a forum for discussion and debate. 

Managers will learn about their unconscious biases, and how to overcome these, what to say (and not to say!), and how they can manage diverse teams effectively. Delegates will take away practical tips for increasing diversity and inclusion within their organisations.

        Learner Objectives

        By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

        • Understand the current social position in relation to EDI and why that matters. Recognise the benefits of creating an inclusive culture to attract and retain a diverse workforce.
        • Understand equality legislation and how that impacts on management actions and decisions
        • Know their responsibilities in relation to preventing, recognising and stopping bullying & harassment in the workplace
        • Have raised self-awareness of potential unconscious biases and assumptions or judgements they may make about people 
        • Identify opportunities, and create an action plan, to adapt their current behaviours and promote best practice in developing an inclusive culture
