Leadership for line managers

Course description

This module will prepare managers for a new challenge as a leader. They will understand the principles of leadership and how to apply them in practice. 

This includes how to develop a strong leadership presence, using influence to inspire and guide others and how to create a personalised plan for continuous leadership development and improvement.

Learner Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

• Have a clear understanding of the differences between transactional management tasks and the transformational leadership approach
• Describe a variety of leadership styles, and recognise where their strengths are in using them  
• Plan for some activities in their chosen leadership style, setting SMART objectives to enable critical evaluation of this approach
