Our courses are delivered via a live video call over Zoom. Our sessions vary from 30 minutes to no more than two hours. Some larger topics are split into two or more sessions.

Introduction to Employment Law for Managers

An overview of key pieces of employment legislation to help people managers understand what they can and can’t do and to reduce risk in their people management practices. This session will provide an interesting and informative overview of many aspects of employment law, including the Contract of Employment, the basis for fair and unfair dismissals, the process for dealing with grievances and disciplinaries and the right to holiday and paid/unpaid time off.

Aimed at those with little or no prior knowledge of employment law, as well as those who would like a refresher to ensure they are current, delegates will leave with plenty of practical advice and relevant information.

The Role and Responsibilities of a Manager

Ideal for new managers, this module covers the personal transition from team member to manager, the qualities of an effective manager and how to build credibility as a new manager within the team.

Suitable for new supervisors, team leaders and managers, this course will provide information and knowledge about all areas of management to help them develop their confidence and capability to excel in their new role. Our experience shows that employees are often promoted to managerial roles due to their technical expertise, and often don’t have any experience of managing people, so this session will provide a solid introduction to management practices and requirements, hints and tips and best practise.

Effective Communication and Feedback

This module is essential for everyone who wants to improve their communication, understand the barriers to good communication and learn how to overcome them. With a specific focus on the additional challenges raised when communicating virtually, this module will help delegates build effective communication channels with everyone around them. Delegates will take away tips and tools for giving feedback to their team members, colleagues and even their manager.

Managing Difficult People and Situations

Managers often shy away from difficult conversations, so this module will be perfect for those who need some support in building their confidence!

Delegates will identify the types of people and situations they find difficult and develop some practical approaches for working successfully with both difficult people and a range of challenging situations.

Time Management and Prioritisation

Suitable for managers at all levels, this session will provide practical tips to help delegates prioritise tasks, plan work efficiently, eliminate timewasters and delegate effectively.

Delegation

Managers often find they cannot do everything, but they don’t delegate! This module will cover the benefits of delegating and provide a structured approach to delegating effectively.

Meeting Management

A lot of time at work is spent in meetings – this module will help ensure that your time is well-spent!

Managers will review whether a meeting is the right format, identify the roles needed during the meeting and plan how to follow-up effectively.

Effective Virtual Meetings

Virtual meetings can be hard to get right, and they need a different approach from regular meetings. This session will look at what you can do to prepare for and run an effective and productive virtual meeting. We will consider:

  • how to choose (and use) the right technology
  • the skills of an effective Chair or facilitator
  • how to prepare the agenda and structure the meeting
  • the ground rules for participation and communication
  • how to ensure everyone is involved and stays awake!

Managing Change

Suitable for managers working in fast-paced environments or those facing changes within the workplace, this module will provide delegates with an understanding of the theory behind change management, coupled with practical tools to understand reactions to change, and support employees facing change or upheaval.

Influencing and Assertiveness

An essential skill for managers to achieve win-win outcomes! Understanding what assertive behaviour looks like, describing positive and negative influencing styles and using non-verbal communication tools for influencing.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Understand the legal basis for Equality and Diversity as well as the business benefits. This module will provide an overview of the main legislation and its practical implications, and a forum for discussion and debate.

Line managers will learn about their unconscious biases, and how to overcome these, what to say (and not to say!), and how they can manage diverse teams effectively. Delegates will take away practical tips for increasing diversity and inclusion within your organisation.

Managing Engagement in Remote Teams

Keeping remote workers engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond can be a challenge, as remote or hybrid working looks set to become a permanent feature in many industries. This session will provide you with some practical tips to help you ensure your team stays productive and motivated, no matter where they are located.

Employee engagement is a culture and approach that provides the right conditions for all team members to give their best each day, committed to their organisation’s goals and values, motivated to contribute to organisational success, with an enhanced sense of their own well-being.

You can create these favourable conditions for remote and home-based workers, through effective management tools and techniques, helping your organisation to achieve increased productivity, enhanced work quality, and the ability to attract and retain top talent.

Leadership for line managers

This module will prepare managers for a new challenge as a leader. They will understand the principles of leadership and how to apply them in practice.

Motivation and Team Working

Suitable for managers at any level who wish to increase the effectiveness of their team, this session will look at the stages of team development and enable delegates to assess their own and their team’s styles and how they relate to others. In his workshop style sessions, managers will plan activities to increase communication and motivation.

Employee Engagement

This session is perfect for understanding what employee engagement is and how it can benefit the organisation. We will explore the link between employee engagement and how it can increase a Company’s productivity and profitability in both the short and long-term.
