The Role and Responsibilities of a Manager

Course description

Ideal for new managers, this module covers the personal transition from team member to manager, the qualities of an effective manager and how to build credibility as a new manager within the team. 

Suitable for new supervisors, team leaders and managers, this course will provide information and knowledge about all areas of management to help them develop their confidence and capability to excel in their new role. Our experience shows that employees are often promoted to managerial roles due to their technical expertise, and often don’t have any experience of managing people, so this session will provide a solid introduction to management practices and requirements, hints and tips and best practise. 

We recommend this course as a starting point for all management development programmes.

Learner Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

• Have a good understanding of the tasks that Managers should be completing, and critically assess themselves against this list 
• Describe a variety of management and leadership styles, and recognise which come naturally to them, and which they could benefit from developing.  
• Recognise that credibility comes from various power sources, and develop a plan to work on any areas that may be lacking
