Alton-based Esdevium Games chooses Reality HR to be its first outsourced HR business partner.

Alton-based Esdevium Games, an established distributor of games, collectibles and toys has chosen Reality HR from a selection of other providers, to be its first outsourced HR business partner.

Esdevium has over 30 years’ experience in the games industry and as Director David Page explained: “Reality HR were initially recommended to us and we were impressed with their culture and approach, which was considered to be a good fit for us.”

The company distributes its products throughout the UK and across Europe and provides a wide range of stock from an extensive number of publishers. It prides itself on the high standard of customer service it delivers, building close working relationships with its retailers, allowing low minimum spend orders and providing next day delivery in most cases for domestic retailers.

Reality HR, based in Basingstoke, was formed in 2004 by Managing Director Laura Davis and has grown significantly over the years, now providing an outsourced HR function to more than 90 clients across the South.  Laura built the company around a Flexible Working Hours model and now has a team of 15 highly qualified and very loyal HR specialists who give above and beyond the call of duty, often dealing with client emergencies in the evenings or at weekends from home.

Reality HR provides a variety of HR support to Esdevium, including advice and assistance with statutory employment law requirements, developing and drafting HR procedures and the provision of management skills training. Reality HR also assists with all aspects of recruitment for Esdevium, including vetting job applications and undertaking telephone interviews with potential new recruits.

Of all of the services provided, ‘modernising HR procedures’ have been particularly helpful to Esdevium as the company is growing very quickly and formal practices needed to be put in place to support further expansion. The next step forward will be to provide more strategic advice to help Esdevium with their ongoing future growth plans.

David Page commented: “Reality HR has quickly become one of our trusted business partners and we have swiftly adapted to working with them as easily as if they were an internal HR department. Their advice and guidance is relevant, well researched and is delivered in a timely and helpful way.”

Cara Shadbolt, Director at Reality HR, added: “Esdevium Games are a pleasure to work with; they are professional, approachable, knowledgeable and passionate about their business. We’re really excited to be partnering with them as they go through this next stage in their growth and look forward to supporting them with both strategic and hands-on HR guidance to help them achieve their business goals.”
