I’ve talked before about company culture, and the impact it can have on successful recruitment.

But just what is company culture?

I think of company culture as your company’s DNA…

In truth, this list could go on and on, but I know you’re on my wavelength now.

Of course, that’s all very well, but why is your company culture important? And, as an HR professional, why am I talking about it?

Your company culture significantly affects your whole team. If you get it right, you have a group of people who really want to fight your corner, even if things get tough.

You will find not only is it easier to recruit good quality staff, but your existing team will do the job for you. Because they are proud to work for your company, they will tell their friends.

Everybody will want to help newbies to settle in – making your induction and onboarding process go more smoothly.

And, hand in hand with that, your people will want to stay – so your retention rate will be high. Your employees will be motivated, they will want to do a great job, and they will want to develop themselves and move on within the business, rather than going elsewhere for promotion.

In fact, you may find employees are struggling with the notion of retiring – that’s a good sign you’ve cracked company culture!
