From improving performance and engagement, to boosting loyalty and retention there are a number of reasons why employee training is a worthwhile investment.

It’s also vital to train your managers to ensure they know how to get the best performance from their employees and to enable them to respond to issues quickly.

We’re passionate about delivering management and team member training, giving our clients a personal service, getting to know your business and its culture to deliver bespoke training with   your needs in mind.

We are pleased to announce our 5 most popular courses and why they might benefit your people:

Performance management for managers

A fundamental part of every manager’s job is to manage the performance of their team, which includes having difficult conversations around poor performance.

Every time managers talk to their teams about work, they are consciously or subconsciously reinforcing behaviours and standards.

This session covers the fundamentals of setting standards, measuring performance, recognising poor performance and resolving issues through informal and formal methods. Using a mixture of trainer input, case studies and live examples, managers have the chance to learn the theory and practice using the tips and techniques covered.

We recently delivered bite sized sessions on performance management, covering topics including appraisals and one-to-ones for Delphic HSE. Erica Garner, Director of Corporate Services said: “Thank you for an extremely valuable performance management training session where all who attended were full of praise, and positively buzzing at how good and helpful the session was.”

Mental health and wellbeing for managers

A hot topic, but one that many managers find daunting or uncomfortable to approach is mental health and wellbeing.

This course is an introduction to the topics of mental health, wellbeing and resilience, looking at how stress at work can impact these.

We often hear “but what if I say the wrong thing?” from our clients, and this course can help managers understand the background to the issue the employee is facing and the confidence to realise that saying something is key.

It will also provide managers with practical tools to build a positive, supportive culture within their team, to help reduce the stigma that is often associated with mental illness. Managers will learn how to recognise when team members or colleagues may require help, as well as how to offer support.

Dignity at work

This course can be tailored for employees and line managers, providing detailed information around equality, employment legislation and company policies relating to bullying and harassment at work. It also gives people an understanding of their responsibilities to their colleagues, team members and the company.

We look at how to recognise what is and isn’t acceptable workplace behaviour and how incivilities and microaggressions can create a hostile environment, constitute discrimination or harassment and lead to problems with mental health and wellbeing.

The session can either be 45 minutes or 2 hours. The longer session includes an exercise to identify practical actions to create a healthier, more inclusive working environment.

This two-hour whistle-stop tour through employment law, contains the basic information that line managers need to know, from working hours, to contract details, data protection and discrimination. We use Employment tribunal cases to illustrate the legislation and case studies to bring the issues to life.

Our HR & Training Consultant, Heidi says: “This is my favourite course to deliver – it’s interesting, informative and gives managers plenty of practical advice. It’s great for people who are new to the role, or for managers who need a refresher.”

Time management (for team members and managers)

We bring the topic of time management to life by tailoring the tools and advice to each employee’s personality style, so no “one size fits all”. Working through the following agenda, delegates are encouraged to plan which tools they will try based on their style and the challenges they identify.

  • What is time management?
  • What do we mean by prioritisation?
  • A 5-step plan to manage your time (Be intentional, be prioritised, be structured, be focused, be self-aware)
  • Action planning

Following this session, delegates will be able to set SMART goals and prioritise them, effectively delegate, use a variety of time management tools more effectively, achieve better results through focusing and avoiding distractions and keep things in perspective.

Our team member and management training courses can be delivered face to face or via live video call, but no matter the method of delivery, we are sure your delegates will find our interactive training to be engaging, informative and useful. We pride ourselves on offering practical and pragmatic tools and tips for delegates to take away and put into practice immediately, so you can see an immediate return on your investment.
